今日は予告通り、再びDBA support.comから。
前回のVirtual Indexに続きもうひとつのUndocumented
Featureであるalter fileへのinsert方法の記事を
ご紹介します。
今回はその記事の中から上記機能を使用する目的例
をピックアップしたいと思います。

◆ Inserting Custom Messages in Oracle Alert/Trace files
1. A scheduled routine checks the available space
and puts an alert for tablespaces left with
less than 100MB of space
(or as is the case for your site).
2. Any changes in the Application profiles are
recorded in Alerts. Profile setup is important
and changing it results in problems for some of
the modules running at my site.

運用でAlert fileを定期的に監視してORACLEエラー
メッセージを検知する仕組みなどを作成した場合、
Applicationで発生した業務的なエラーなどを
このプロシージャを使用することでalert fileに
含めることができます。
そうすればApplication側の通知処理も単純になりますし、
エラーの内容もalertファイルでまとめて確認できますね。
※当機能はOracle側で公式にDocument化
されていない機能の１つで自己リスクでの使用となります。
